Subject and speaker :- Stories of Oxford Castle - a talk by Mark Davies

Narrative :-
The new season opens with a stirring account of dungeons and dunghills by speaker Mark Davies. The history of Oxford Castle is interwoven with that of its waterways. Many colourful characters were imprisoned within the castle walls and these stories of escape, hard labour, transportation and execution expose the harsh social and political conditions of life for many in the 18th century.

Subject and speaker :- A Scandal to God and Man - The Story of Town and Gown in Oxford - a talk by Chris Day

Narrative :-
This is an intriguing story of Town and Gown in Oxford, that is, the history of the University and its relationship with the town. It was very acrimonious and at times physically dangerous. In the 17th century, the Privy Council called it 'a scandal', after receiving complaints about both sides. Chris Day is a noted lecturer and was formerly Chairman of the Oxfordshire Local History Association.

He aslo has some unusual 'finds' from the village.
